Can i make Chords using a 5 tone blues scales .?
How do i improvise use the scale itself – I am currently learning the blues scales major and minor but modes are confusing me I know the names to them and that they are scales within scales but how would i really use them over chord progression …. like what chords are used in blues music ?
A 12 bar progression is used a lot, and the minor pentatonic scale is used a lot to improvise over it.
12 bar blues progression:

Lets use the Em scale
E is the key (I) Play it for four measures
A is then the IV, play it for 2, then the E for 2
Jump to B (V) for one, A for one, then E for 2
(some are 7 chords, shown in the websites I posted VVV)
You can play a boogie woogie riff by making the root and the 5th (power chord, 5 chord, ect) then moving the 5th to the 6th.

You’d then improvise in Em pentatonic, and even if the chords change, as long as the progression is in the same root, you continue to use that scale. Hope I didn’t confuse you
