Found a baby bird on the ground with a wound on its neck?

It can’t yet fly, it doesn’t have all of its feathers, and there were rats sniffing round so I brought it home. It is eating well and taking a little water, and it doesn’t seem constipated or dehydrated. My question is – what do I do about the wound on its neck? It seems to be a raw pink patch of featherless skin, but it doesn’t seem to be an open wound. Will it heal on it’s own? Should I try and put Neosporin on there?

Keep it warm and fed and do not put anything on wound if not open and bleeding. Just blot with a warm washcloth. Then get in touch with a wildlife rehabber in your area who can take the bird and get it care it needs and release into wild when ready. Free for all wildlife. Can get number from local vets or the DEC.
