Should I buy a relatively low end or a Gibson Epiphone high end? The Gibson SG Special is 3 tablets of seven hundred and Epiphone is also $ 700 but a Les Paul Black Beauty with pills # and gold hardware.
Both are good guitars. Has to be used? It's pretty easy to find a beautiful, like new, Gibson studio LP for seven HUDI. Usually when people buy guitars new high-end, treat them as a work of art. When people buy low-end guitars are treated as Dixie cups (disposable). If you were to buy a high quality guitar used, and keeps it in excellent condition, you will be able to sell the next day or within several years of what you paid for it. I bought (and traded) used several guitars and have not had a bad experience. Good luck!
