Who was the saxophonist who played with Dave Matthews was hospitalized after LeRoi Moore?
I saw Dave on the tour this summer after LeRoi law had his accident, and I realized the man who took the place he was very talented. Who was it and could become a permanent member? May rest in peace LeRoi, you will never forget!
Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck's band and the Flecktones. Not likely to be permanent, as is already in another band. The only reason I did a tour with DMB was because the Flecktones had decided to take the summer off and he became available. DMB was lucky he was available, Jeff and Bela Fleck with DMB have more experience than any other musical guest, so he had already played enough DMB songs in the past 10 years, before filling Leroi.

Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King $9.25 Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), Big Whiskey has been hailed by Rolling Stone as the group’s “heaviest album yet, both musically and emotionally,” which went on to note: “Throughout, Carter Beauford beats out elaborate, propulsive groves; bassist Stefan Lessard lays down Flea-style funk bass lines; violinist Boyd Tinsley plays cresting, intense runs; and Matthews mir… |

Crash $7.99 It’s tempting to label the Dave Matthews Band as torchbearers of the Grateful Dead’s moderate rock fusion and send them off on the next summer tour featuring either Blues Traveler or the Spin Doctors. But there is more at work here, particularly on the band’s second major-label release. Crash pairs soothing sounds (flute, acoustic guitar, six-string bass) with a dark emotional undercurrent. The So… |

Under the Table & Dreaming $8.72 With popcorn acoustic guitars, trampoline fiddles, bumper-car bass lines, and caramel-coated sax, the Dave Matthews Band’s major-label debut is like an evening at the fair. “The Best of What’s Around” and “What Would You Say” swirl like the amusement-park ride on the album’s cover, sweeping the exhilarated and lightheaded listener higher as the ride spins faster. “Satellite” glides breezily like t… |

Cable Guy [VHS] $0.01 If you think Jim Carrey’s comedy is an acquired taste, think of The Cable Guy as a potent bottle of bittersweet wine. The film has a lingering aftertaste, but it is just a bit too dark, a bit too extreme to invite another serving. On the other hand, you’ve got to give Carrey some credit for risking his $20-million paycheck (and a big chunk of box-office revenue) on this black comedy. A needy, psyc… |
